Our condolences go out to the family of PROFESSOR ALBERT EMPRON, Founder of TENJINKAN KARATE who died in Ewa Beach, Hawaii on June 2nd. We only received notification of his passing after notices were sent out to the membership asking for their photos & bios for an upcoming book on the Council being produced by GRANDMASTER DON WARRENER of RISING SUN PRODUCTIONS. Mrs. Empron wrote back to say that her Husband had sadly passed away. He will be greatly missed by all .who knew him.

GRANDMASTER CARL STONE of Florida is now the FLORIDA STATE REPRESENTATIVE for WUKO & will be traveling to Beijing, China next year as one of its Officials to attend the Olympics where Karate will be one of the featured sports there. He was also made a CO-COMMISSIONER FOR Actor/ Grandmaster Chuck Norris' WORLD COMBAT LEAGUE & a member of Grandmaster Joe Lewis'

On August 20th, the art of Greek PANKRATION was featured on the History Channel's new "HUMAN WEAPON" Series according to KRATIOS GRANDMASTER JIM ARVANITIS' student & publicist, Eric Hill. DR. DENNIS HAVOVER of "DENNIS SURVIVAL JU-JITSU" was also featured on the History Channel's "HUMAN WEAPON" Series on August 31st. The series hosts went to Israel to film the top grandmasters in KRAV MAGA there & featured DR. HANOVER & his students practicing on a hill top in the hot sun. GRANDMASTER ZAHALAN MAN of Malaysia was also featured for the History Channel's "HUMAN WEAPON" in coverage of Malaysia's deadly art of Silat.

GRANDMASTER GARY WASNIEWSKI is starring in 3 movies in Hollywood this year. The films are called "THUNDERKICK"; "REVENGE OF THE GRANDMASTERS"; & the "MATADOR. The later two being produced by another WHFSC Member, GRANDMASTER LEO FONG's SKY DRAGON CORP. & YOURS TRULY has been invited to do a photo shoot for BLACK BELT Magazine by its Editor, Mr. Robert Young the next time I'm in California with a pending article on SAN-JITSU's DEFENSES AGAINST A BASEBALL BAT ATTACK slated to come out soon.

DR. SALLEH SABREE of Malaysia is busy organizing the 1st ANNUAL MARTIAL ARTS FESTIVAL to be held in Malaysia. It is going to be a very large affair according to SALLEH, to be held tentatively in September of next year with more details to follow. Also, GENERAL ALEXANDER RETUINSKIH of the Russian ROSS System is part of the organizing committee for the RUSSIAN UNION OF MARTIAL ARTS composed of 52 Russian martial arts organizations that is meeting this December to discuss plans for a major festival in Russia next year as well�.Both events are backed by our WORLD GRANDMASTERS COUNCIL.

TAEKWONDO TIMES Magazine contains a guest editorial by GRANDMASTER JOON P. COMBAT Magazine contains a feature article on HANSHI PETER BROWNE & his system of KEMPO JU JITSU along with a mention of the WHFSC's 15th Anniversary celebration, and last but not least, TAEKWONDO & KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS Magazine mentions MASTER JACKIE CHAN's recent visit to Singapore where he opened his 4th CALIFORNIA FITNESS JACKIE CHAN SPORT CLUB.

Before we end this newsletter, MASTER MARK MURDOCK of our WHFSC MASTERS DIVISION would like to warn you about a scam that is making its way around. A gentleman had called his school asking for private tutoring of his Son in MANABI MASHO JIU-JITSU & BUJINKAN NIN-JUTSU. He told MARK that his Son would be flying in to take several months of lessons from him & that he would send the money in advance for his tuition. As it turned out, MARK received a sizable Cashier's check in an amount that was 5 times the amount he had asked for. Mark e-mailed the gentleman to tell him that he sent him to much & the gentleman promptly e-mailed him back to mail the money in two separate transactions to two separate locations & he would get him out the proper amount. Thinking that the whole thing sounded kind of "fishy", Mark contacted the Bank out of Jackson, Mississippi that the check was drafted from & found out that the check was counterfeit. So, please be careful out there ladies & gentlemen, & "THANK YOU", MARK for making us aware of this!

The only exceptions would be seminars of an unusual nature; those directed towards police or security work or seminars sponsored by the Council (other then my reporting seminars listed in the magazines).
