Professor Sig Kufferath

1911 - 1999

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of PROFESSOR SIG KUFFERATH. A martial arts legend, former instructor of mine and Council Member. He was the Head of the great Danzan Ryu Ju-jitsu empire. Sig died at age 88 of liver cancer. His funeral was held May 15th at the Colonial Mortuary in Mt. View, California with hundreds of those whose lives he touched in attendance. A special Memorial Service is also being planned for June 25th at the Punch Bowl in Hawaii where Professor Kufferath will be remembered with full military honors. The Dragon Returns!

MASTER DON "THE DRAGON" WILSON came out of retirement to show the world that ....THE DRAGON IS BACK! On May 14th in Lowell, Massachusetts "The Dragon" flew into Dick the "Destroyer" Kimbers hometown to seize his world kickboxing title. Don scored a TKO in the 3rd round. Present in Don's corner was another WHFSC Member, SI TAI GUNG GLENN C. WILSON, who is Don's Kung-fu Instructor and chief of Dragon Security. SiTaiGung Glenn C. Wilson's personal protection team were at Don's side to assure his safety. Job well done gentlemen!!! Don is looking forward to shooting two movies next year.

SAN-JITSU articles accepted at Cambridge University......I am proud to report that my own art of San-jitsu, Guam's first Internationally recognized system has received even further recognition by being accepted into England's Cambridge University Micronesian Center. Accepting the articles on behalf of the University was Andrew Scourse, Archives Curator for the Center. It was just 20 years ago this date when articles were first accepted by Guam's Museum, the University of Guam's Pacific Islands Collection and its public libraries!

JUNG SHEE JAMES LACY of California reports that he has a new digital machine and is currently working on producing 6 digitally produced videos for PANTHER PRODUCTIONS.

Four of SOKE DANIEL VERKERKE's students placed with 3 Silver and 1 Gold Medal in the recent Canadian Ju-jitsu Championships held there....."Not bad", considering only 5 of his students entered the competition. CONGRATULATIONS Dan!

HANSHI GLEN KWAN of Canada wishes to THANK all of our Council Members who sent in their "best wishes" and donations for the speedy recovery of his family after the terrible auto accident they had. Glenn reports that he is now able to walk with the use of a cane and recently bought a new Aero Star to get around with.....According to Glenn, you will be seeing him at our upcoming WHFSC INTERNATIONAL HALL OF FAME/ SEMINAR WEEKEND on September 3rd-4th in Orlando, Florida!

SOKE EDWARD BADIANG of Hawaii reports that his stunt group in Hawaii called S.M.A.S.H. is currentlyworking on two pilot shows for TV. "Bay Watch" in Hawaii and"Pacific Blue". Soke Badiang is the International Screener for the WHFSC in the Pacific Basin Area.
